How old does a vehicle have to be in order to not be smogged in the state of California?

Probably 30 years in CA. I think it started with 20 and went to 25 until arriving at the current 30.

i have a cousin who lives out there,,and he said it was still 25 yrs,,but that it might change again,,and if it did it would go to 30 yrs,,he knows because he has an old Chevy El camino he drives,,and has to keep it up to standards,,good luck,,i hope this help,s.
